They bouth 110 million roses, and one billion boxes of chocolates. It is an important day, but where does the Valentine’s Day tradition come from?
Declarations of love
The first Valentine’s greetings were in the Middle Ages. But they were not cards: people said or sang declarations of love. Written Valentines appeared in the 1400s in the from of romantic poems. People in England started to make their own cards in the 1600s.
And in the 1700s you could buy handmade cards in England.
